Themes Weddings Make a Wedding Memorable

The winter day is crisp and the snow is gently falling. A beautiful bride draped in a stunning white cloak, her hood trimmed with fur, pulls up in a giant sleigh. She makes her entrance into a room that shimmers in icy blues and silvers, clad in a gorgeous fairytale winter wedding dress. Her guests are being served steamy hot cups of peppermint schnapps hot chocolate. Snowflakes hang magically from the ceiling and the entire space has been converted into the winter wonderland and winter wedding theme that she had dreamed of.

Every wedding is meant to be memorable and individual – a true reflection of the couple to be married. Too often a couple may start planning their day as a unique wedding experience, but end up losing sight of it. Now who wants that? Planning a winter wedding theme can be quite overwhelming since there are several venues, florists, photographers, dresses – and the list goes on and on – to choose from. So how does one begin?

It’s easy! Just pick a wedding theme and let that guide your selections instead of letting the selection process guide you. The advantages, as you will see, are surprising.

Make a Wedding Theme Memory

“It goes by so fast!” and “The day was such a blur” are remarks commonly made by past brides. For this reason, it is not unusual for a bride to be encouraged to hire a videographer to capture the day’s events.

If it is hazy for a bride on her own wedding day, then chances are it may be for a guest, as well. Wouldn’t you like to replace the ‘blur’ with just downright unforgettable? No doubt a wedding theme will certainly trigger some solid memories.

*Unique

Although not unheard of, theme weddings are uncommon, and opting for one alone already makes for a distinct wedding. It can provide some insight on the nature of the couple and rightly individualize their special day. When was the last time you went to ‘A Midsummer’s Night’ wedding and how cool would it be?

*Participation

What better and more enjoyable way to get the groom to engage in the wedding plans then to introduce a wedding theme – especially one that reflects both the bride and groom. Naturally, guests will also become absorbed in the day, for it will be difficult to let such details go unnoticed. For those less-known guests stuck together at the same table, it can make for good conversation starters: “I wonder why the Hawaiian wedding theme?” “Oh, I hear it’s because they met there…”

*Time Saver

A typical inexperienced bride will spend, on average, 250 hours planning a wedding in Canada! If you have a specific theme in mind, then there are very specific things and vendors that you will be looking for. For example, if you’ve selected a harvest wedding theme, your search need only be limited to locations that promote it, such as a country inn or golf course. It would only be a waste of time to consider, much less view, a Victorian-style venue.

* Money Saver

Yes, picking a wedding theme can even save you money. It really helps the couple stay focused on what they need to spend in order to create the theme, instead of being sucked into spending extra cash on unrelated and unnecessary upgrades and items.

For instance, a Bavarian/Oktoberfest-type wedding logically features beer at the bar. The wedding theme alone does not promote wines, liqueurs and other alcohol, so why bother spending excess amounts on the variety?

*Less Stress

Like it or not, stress comes with planning a wedding. It demands an enormous amount of attention and many brides admit to feeling overwhelmed by the numerous decisions to be made.

Choosing a wedding theme really helps narrow the decision-making process. It will guide and influence every decision you make starting with the actual date. If you really want a winter wonderland wedding theme, then it is likely you will wed in the winter.

The wedding theme and season will inspire the venue, decor, menu, color scheme, floral arrangements, attire, level of formality and even the wedding favors. This can, as already discussed, save you time and money, and as a result, save you stress! In a way, a them is the easiest way to a DIY wedding.
